What: East Austin Studio Tour 2007
E.A.S.T. 2007 is the sixth annual arts event that celebrates the visual arts in east Austin. This year, more than 200 artists will be opening their studios throughout the east side for a free two-day event.
When: E.A.S.T. will take place Saturday, November 17th, and Sunday, November 18th, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
How It Works: On Saturday and Sunday, 113 studios throughout east Austin will open their doors to the public. Visitors can purchase art, learn more about an artist’s specific tools and techniques, watch a demonstration or simply talk with an artist about his or her recent work.
E.A.S.T. is a self-guided tour. Maps to all the studios will be provided, and visitors can use the E.A.S.T. website and catalog to select which studios they would like to see.
The E.A.S.T. catalog, a full-color book showing the work of every artist, will be available for purchase after November 1st. The price is $5, cash or checks only. Locations include BookPeople, HalfPrice Books, Miller Blueprint, Big Red Sun, and d. Berman gallery. See the E.A.S.T. website at http://www.eastaustinstudiotour.com/ for a full list of locations.
E.A.S.T. began in November 2003 as an artist-run initiative designed to highlight studios and galleries located in east Austin. It has grown by leaps and bounds but retains its original mission—to encourage creative dialogue among artists and their peers, as well as between artists and their city.
For More Information: http://www.eastaustinstudiotour.com/ provides general E.A.S.T. information, locations for purchasing a catalog, and individual profiles and images for each participating artist. As well as a downloadable map for the tour.
